How many bags of concrete on a pallet?
Quikrete ships its Concrete Mix 42 bags to a pallet for 80 lb bags, 56 for 60 lb and 80 for 40 lb. A pallet of 80s makes about 0.93 cubic yards (25.2 cubic feet) and weighs 3,360 pounds before the pallet itself.
How to work it out
- One 80 lb bag makes 0.6 cu ft, so 27 cu ft per cu yd ÷ 0.6 cu ft = 45 bags per cubic yard
- 42 bags × 0.6 cu ft = 0.93 cu yd
- Spread 4 in thick: 25.2 cu ft ÷ 0.333 ft = 75.6 sq ft
Pallet counts are set by the manufacturer, and Quikrete lists them on its product pages. Stores may break pallets or stack them differently, so confirm with your store before you plan a delivery.

What a pallet of 80 lb bags covers, by thickness
| Pour thickness (for area covered) | Area covered at the thickness above | Concrete made |
|---|---|---|
| 3.5 in | 86.4 sq ft | 0.93 cu yd |
| 4 in | 75.6 sq ft | 0.93 cu yd |
| 5 in | 60.5 sq ft | 0.93 cu yd |
| 6 in | 50.4 sq ft | 0.93 cu yd |
What a pallet pours
| Bag | Bags per pallet | Concrete per pallet | Weight of the bags |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 lb | 80 | 24 cu ft (0.89 cu yd) | 3,200 lb |
| 60 lb | 56 | 25.2 cu ft (0.93 cu yd) | 3,360 lb |
| 80 lb | 42 | 25.2 cu ft (0.93 cu yd) | 3,360 lb |
So a pallet is a little under a cubic yard — enough for a 75 sq ft slab 4 in thick, or about seven 12 in tube forms 4 ft deep. A full yard is a pallet plus three 80 lb bags.
Moving a pallet
At 3,360 lb plus the pallet, a full pallet is more than the payload of most half-ton pickups, and many trailers. Home stores usually deliver pallets by truck with a liftgate or forklift; ask whether the driver can place it where you need it, because moving 42 bags by hand across a yard is its own job. Leave the shrink-wrap on and keep the pallet off wet ground — bagged mix that gets damp lumps and can harden in the bag.
